Infidelity, Affair, and High Conflict Couple Counseling in Columbus, Ohio

The Dream You Had For Your Relationship Is Still Possible

You may be facing the most difficult challenges a relationship can encounter but know any relationship has hope if you are both committed to making the relationship work. Often, couples reflect after our work together and they realize that the hardest parts of their relationship story became the catalyst for the profound change they’ve needed for years. If you are struggling with unresolved conflict, betrayal trauma, or feeling disconnected, please know that these challenges are not signs that your relationship is failing—YOU ARE Here RIGHT NOW and that means you still have the fight left in you that is necessary to rebuild.

When we fall in love and make a commitment to our partners, we create a shared vision for our future—a powerful dream that inspires, supports, and drives us. That dream starts to fade when the challenges in our relationship feel insurmountable. The dream isn’t lost. You can rebuild and I’d love to show you how.

A Snapshot of Partnerships I Help:

  • Couples who feel shattered from the catastrophic blow of infidelity discovery, leaving them struggling to determine if the remaining pieces are enough to rebuild their dream.
  • Partners who put so much effort into building successful careers, businesses, or families that their relationship starves in the process. They have learned to shift focus to what needs attention right now, and suddenly they find the most important relationship is on life support.
  • New parents starting a family, unaware of the significant challenges (and joys) that come with it, and find they need a better way to tackle this new life together.
  • Partners who struggle when the children grow up and start their own lives, leaving the couple grappling with redefining themselves individually and as a couple.

No matter what chapter of your story you are on, I am ready to help you meet its challenges and thrive!

You may have tried every other option: advice from family or friends, self-help books, podcasts, waiting until it gets better, or maybe even suggestions from an AI. Yet, nothing seems to get to the heart of what is happening in your relationship. The silence from avoidance, the disappointment from unmet needs, or the seismic shock of betrayal trauma can create a seemingly bottomless divide that feels almost impossible to cross.

This is where I come in.

Pursuing Excellence in Relationship Work

I have invested more than a decade deep-diving into exactly what relationships like yours need to heal and thrive. I realize it is impossible to be great in every aspect of counseling, so I strive to be exceptional at this thing: building amazing relationships that last a lifetime. I am not the therapist who will be the “tone police” or focus only on fair fighting techniques. To me, this is a surface-level approach and is a way to mask the symptoms without getting to the deeper issues that resurface time and time again. My primary focus is to identify and address the real challenges, to help you heal, so that you can have AND be the partner you want and need. The barriers to feeling connected, the walls you or your partner created to protect yourselves from pain, and the negative cycles you fall into when things get hard, are all examples of the deeper challenges. These challenges are often left unaddressed when you are focused on learning how to just be nicer to one another. I want to help you get the work done that prevents the revolving door of couples therapy.

My commitment to this work drives this practice. I opened Reconnecting Columbus in 2016 because I realized Columbus, Ohio, was in dire need of qualified, experienced, and passionate couple counselors. A year later, I asked my own partner to take over running the practice so I could refocus entirely on pursuing excellence in relationship therapy. Armed with over 26 years of experience in our own marriage, we share a fervor for building healthy relationships, and we make sure that is evident in every aspect of our practice. You can learn more about our story here.

My Unique Commitment To This Work

My advanced training and dedication provide access to a wealth of knowledge and tools to help partners in the most dire situations. Some of that training includes:

  • Multiple Certifications in Infidelity/Affair Recovery Counseling
  • Gottman Method (Levels 1 & 2)
  • Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT)
  • Trauma Processing and Recovery

I will thoughtfully create a personalized and comprehensive plan with you to address your specific challenges. Our plan will incorporate all of my training necessary for the work (the science) but also includes a thoughtful personalized approach based on your unique relationship (that’s the art). I am passionate about helping partners work through relational trauma to build healthy, loving, enduring partnerships. I guide motivated couples through transforming significant challenges into a partnership defined by love, respect, closeness, and appreciation. This work is not complete doom and gloom; my signature dry humor and colorful metaphors are known for keeping the sessions engaging!

A motivated couple can move through this journey and rediscover their partnership of connection, admiration, passion, and intimacy. When partners are committed to the process, they can be successful. I am committed to seeing it through with you, helping you move from seeing one another as enemies to becoming best friends again. Your legacy can be solidified, and your relationship dreams can be reality.

Invest in Your Legacy

Relationship distress impacts every aspect of your life—your career, your parenting, your friendships, and your fundamental hope for the future. Healing betrayal trauma or disrupting the cycle of conflict isn’t easy, but the results are worth the work. The results do not just help you as a couple; they could change the relationships with the people connected to you. This work can change all of your relationships for the better!

If you are ready to put in the work to realize the potential greatness within your relationship, I am eager to show you how.

You’ve probably waited long enough. Let’s get started.
