Frequently Asked Questions About Reconnecting Columbus
Learn More About Reconnecting Columbus
What types of therapy are most effective for resolving consistent disagreements, betrayal trauma, or the painful silence in our relationship?
We use approaches informed by decades of research. and are the “gold standard” in relationship therapy. The Gottman Method Couples Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) have been tested by time and science. These methods have thorough assessments, interventions, and focus that help partners create a relationship that can also stand the test of time.
How long does couples counseling typically take, given our demanding schedules?
The duration varies, but we start with a 90-minute initial assessment (instead of the standard 50-60 minutes) to create an efficient, goal-oriented treatment plan. While some couples see significant improvement in 8-20 sessions, we prioritize measurable progress and will collaboratively determine a schedule that respects your time while achieving lasting results.
How much does specialized relationship counseling cost in Ohio?
Our Clinicians’ fees differ based on training, experience, and areas of focus. You can find a detailed listing on our Fees page or under each Specialist’s profile.
Do you offer weekend or evening appointments for busy professionals?
We offer flexible scheduling, with some of our Clinicians offering evening and potentially weekend appointments, to accommodate high-demand careers. We also offer secure Telehealth (online) sessions for your convenience across Ohio.

Where are the reviews for Reconnecting Columbus?
It is generally unethical and potentially illegal for those licensed in Ohio to solicit Google Reviews for relational and mental health services. This practice of publishing reviews poses a risk to the reviewer and the general public in many ways, so Reconnecting Columbus has made a decision to avoid them as much as possible.
We have chosen to keep the few we have up now after discussing it with the poster, but we do not solicit others because of the ethical issues with this practice. We choose to focus on client welfare and protecting privacy, and publishing reviews puts client safety at risk.
The Ohio CSWMFT Board strictly prohibits blurring the lines of professional relationships and potentially exploiting clients. We realize the difficulty the poses to the general public when trying to ascertain if we are a reputable counseling practice, but the risks of trying to solicit (or even manufacture) reviews far outweigh the potential gains.
Do you offer longer sessions if needed?
Yes, some couples and poly relationships who feel they are in crisis opt for longer sessions in the beginning of therapy as a means to accelerate treatment. This is also known as intensive relationship therapy. This is a great option to help partners work through emergent challenges. We have found that some situations (like immediately after the discovery of an affair) require accelerated therapy. Most couples and poly relationships find that a few longer sessions in the beginning help to expedite the treatment process and help them feel better sooner. The sessions tend to last 3-6 hours, and the fees are prorated based on the fee schedule. This approach is considered after a couple has completed their initial assessment.
